Our work in Education

Scholarships program have been organised specially for the very deserving and needy children in the community who approach us for support, especially the children of the patients. Educational needs of the children of the patients such as books, stationery, uniforms etc. have also been taken care of. Thousands of poor children have been educated ever since the society was formed way back in 2005. Today we are proud to say that many of the children have grown up to the heights standing as models to others in the society.

Educational Scholarship Program

More than 80 students within our project area of Warangal and its surrounding are provided with educational scholarships annually. This program is generously supported by our donor, GAAG from Italy, and by other donors time to time. Hundreds of children have passed out successfully in flying colours in the recent years and settled well in the society.

On 15th August 2021, a Scholarship Children Meet was organised. Some of the sponsored children expressed their gratitude and how they are continuing their studies with the support of SPWS. The Chief Guest Mr. Dr. K. Karunakar Reddy, Max Care Director gave an admirable speech to the participants. On that day we conducted cultural programs. We ended the program followed by lunch to all the participants.

Other Educational Assistance

One of our TB patient, Mr. V.Ellaiah, has a daughter studying in 8th class. Due to Covid-19, a lockdown was declared, and online classes were conducted for all children. Mr. Ellaiah’s daughter was not attending online classes because she did not have a smart mobile phone. On 7th August 2021, our staff, Mr. Eugene, went for a home visit and found the child not attending the classes. On the request of the family, 19 Mr. Eugene explained the situation of the Ellaiah’s daughter to the board members. On 9th August 2021, the board presented a mobile phone to the child to attend online classes.

Other Educational Assistance

One of our sponsored children, Ms. Divya Katta, studying in Intermediate 1st year in Basara, requested help to purchase books. Her father K. Sudhakar died with HIV & TB. Her mother, Anitha, is also a HIV affected patient. Ms. Divya needed some help to buy her academic books for her education. Her mother could not afford with her earning and hence they explained the situation to SPWS staff. On 22nd October 2021, the board members purchased the books required and handed over to Ms. Divya in the presence of her mother. Ms. Divya is very happy, and she thanked our society for the great help.

Jeevadhara Sponsorship Program, sponsorship program for Children & Elders

Jeevadhara Sponsorship Program (JSP) is supported generously by Unbound, Kansas City, U.S.A. since November 2021. Through this partnership, SPWS served almost 8,374 families with its sponsorship program in the Financial Year 2021-2022. As of March 31, 2022, this program had a strength of 8,118 sponsored members in 11 districts of Telangana state.

SPWS believes that providing good education to the children of the marginalized families is the best opportunity to liberate them from poverty and secure a better future. Through Jeevadhara Sponsorship Program, SPWS sends financial support directly to the beneficiary's bank account to facilitate each family to meet the education expenses and other basic necessities of the children like food, medicine and clothing. These bank accounts are directly 20 operated by the beneficiaries. In case the sponsored member is a minor, the account is jointly operated by the child and the mother/guardian of the sponsored child. The beneficiary or the mother of the sponsored child withdraws the money from the bank when the need arises and submits the bills for which the funds have been utilized. JSP team monitors the sponsored member’s utilisation of funds closely collecting the proof of utilisation and the sponsored child's academic progress is followed up regularly during the year to ensure that the child is moving toward the individual educational goal.

Jeevadhara Sponsorship Program provides sponsorship for the elders too who deserve financial support to survive. The benefits of the elders are also deposited in the bank accounts and the accounts are operated by themselves or by their nominees. The elders withdraw money from their account every month and utilise the same for nutrition and medical care.
