Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infection caused by bacteria that mainly affects the lungs but can also affect any other organ including bone, brain, and spine. It spreads through infected droplets, released in the air by coughing, sneezing etc., by the affected individual. With proper medications and care, TB can be cured. TB bacteria will be cultured, and their sensitivities are analysed to determine the exact course of treatment. Often a combination of therapy is required for several months.
